Are you a perfect candidate? Is there such a thing as a perfect company? No! You’re not perfect and either are companies.

If we can agree you’re not perfect and companies are not perfect then what’s the answer? The answer is for you to find the best possible company that fits your needs and can take your career in the right direction. That’s the perfect company for you!

The most important thing to remember is the company has to be right for YOU. We are all different, so what is right for your friend or family members isn’t necessarily right for you. So what is right company for you?

This is where you have to be honest with yourself and research industries, companies, positions, locations, type of work, and ultimately the best potential for your career, not just for today but also for years to come. Only you have the answer to the question, “What is right for you?” and again, just because your friend says a particular company is right for them doesn’t make it right for you.

And another thing, just because a company is the biggest employer in your city or state doesn’t make them the best company for you. Maybe you’re better suited for a smaller firm? Take everything in consideration when deciding on which type of company is right for you.

When you’re doing your research and determining the right company for you, make sure you put the money aside. Of course money will play a role in your decision making process, but when you’re looking at long-term career decisions you should never consider the money. If you pick the wrong company, just for the money, you will be miserable and looking for another opportunity in a few short years. And believe me, if you’re miserable the money won’t matter.

Most of the problems in the workplace today are when people are working for the wrong companies and in the wrong positions. The perfect company for you isn’t what others think is right for you. The perfect company for you could be big, small, public, private, and can be located in a big city or small city. It could be a blue-collar position or white-collar position. It could be in the entertainment industry or the construction industry. It simply doesn’t matter. What matters is the company fits your needs and can take your career in the right direction. That’s the perfect company for you! I hope this helps.

Good luck to you!
