If you’re looking for the timing to be “just right” to change jobs or find a new career, it doesn’t exist! The best time to change is when the new opportunity presents itself. That’s when you do it!

If you’re procrastinating your decision to change because you want everything to be “just right” you will be waiting a long time. Opportunities don’t always come at the right time and if you vacillate on an opportunity it might be gone.

Are you purposefully procrastinating your decision? Are you having fear of change? If you’re doing these things and having these feelings this is totally normal. You’re just putting off the inevitable. You must push through your feelings and realize there will never be a perfect time or a “just right” time to make a career change. It doesn’t exist!

In your current position you will always be involved in something. Either starting something, in the middle of something, or finishing up on something. And regardless of your good intentions to have everything perfect before you leave, your company will still be upset you’re leaving. So why worry about it?

Throughout your life you will be confronted with decisions, and if you wait for everything to be “just right” before you make these decisions you will miss out on a lot of opportunities. There will never be a perfect time to have kids, buy a house, buy a car, end a relationship, start exercising, quit smoking, and yes, change jobs and start a new career!

So, when is the best time to change jobs and start a new career? It doesn’t exist! You will always be able to find reasons to procrastinate your decision. Just remember, if you vacillate on an opportunity when is the next opportunity coming your way? Who knows? I hope this helps.

Good luck to you!
