What can YOU do for the Company?
It’s true that every company is different in the way they do things, but there is one thing they all have in common and that is the need for talent. Top talent. People problems are their biggest problems.
What can YOU do for the company? Can you solve the company’s people problems? Are you top talent? Are you a top performing employee or a high maintenance employee? If you can solve the company’s problem then you must make that point clear in the interview and stress what YOU can do for the company, early and often.
During your interview the company wants to know what YOU can do for them, not what they can do for you. The sooner you learn this fact the sooner you will start to have success and win EVERY interview!
The company has a need and they are interviewing you to see if you can fill it! Again, can you solve their problem? The company wants to find out during your interview if you’re right for the position and can solve their problem. So if you can, tell them! Explain the benefits the company will receive if they hire you. Explain that you are interviewing because you can solve their problem.
So even though you have the qualifications and requirements of the position, your approach to the interviews might be killing them. How are you approaching your interviews? Is it all about you? Is it all about what the company can do for you?
